- Has lived in Venice, Italy where she sat in motor boats, visited uninhabited islands and worked in restaurants.
- Has also had tea in a submarine, managed a pizzeria, worked in an embassy and has been teaching at a university for many years.
- Teaches English as a foreign language to young people from all over the world and lives in Ireland with her sixteen-year-old son.
- Wrote her first stories when she was nine and started using a typewriter at the age of twelve.
- Grew up in Holland, at the edge of the biggest forest in the land. It started right next to her house and was full of snakes, wild boars and wild cherries.
